Singer and songwriter, Gabby Tham hails from Johor, Malaysia. She is a Worship Leader and full time church staff at the The Vineyard Johor Bahru, her home church in which she grew up closely attached. As a songwriter, Gabby has the ability to translate all the emotions and experiences she had gone through in her life into well-written songs. With her sultry voice, Gabby brings about warmth and sincerity accompanied by the anointing of the Lord in all her songs.

In the year 2005, she entered a national song writing competition in Malaysia . Three of her songs were short listed for the finals, with her song "You are the Reason" winning third place in the Vertical Music Category. Gabby was later signed under the Oops! Asia Recording Member Banner.

Gabby's debut album, featuring 10 brand new tracks of intimate worship, was released under Oops! Asia in 2007. These worship songs were birthed from her personal worship experiences and life. An album that is refreshing in every sense of the word, it is also a personal reflection to the intimacy of the Father's love for us.

RJ has also been involved in Planetshakers Malaysia and Youth Alive Malaysia (YAM) where he plays bass for the YAM Band.

RJ is currently managing and promoting a vibrant progressive Christian Rock Band called “PG165”. Their debut album is due to be released sometime this year.

Geoffrey Woo

Geoffrey Woo is a singer/composer, and has been in the music ministry for 23 years. He received this calling while he was an Engineering student in Melbourne, Australia. Upon completion of his studies, he returned to Malaysia and stepped out into the ministry and has been living by faith all these years. This is the special aspect of his ministry, to be evidence of God's ability to provide supernaturally.

In those 23 years, Geoffrey has released 5 albums and 3 singles. The last album, REPRISE, is a retrospective album culled from his previous work. It is also a commemoration of 25 years of song-writing. Two of his singles have received radio air-play in Singapore, namely, JUST ONE LIFE Pt.II and MORE THAN LIFE. The former was released as a tribute to the late Mother Teresa. The third single JUST WHEN I THOUGHT IT WAS OVER, has literally traveled around the world, having been selected for the onboard programming on Singapore Airlines flights for one month.

Throughout his ministry, Geoffrey has ministered in churches around Malaysia and Singapore, and has toured Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney in Australia, MetroManila in the Philippines, Hong Kong, and Jakarta and Bali in Indonesia. He has shared the stage with the likes of Hillsongs and Barry McGuire.

Lucy L

On Sept 12, 2004, she released her second SAND album entitled DREAMS under her own recording label Masterpiece Music. Lucy wrote most of the songs in SAND - Dreams but also included 2 songs from other songwriters from Penang.

Lucy L graduated from Trinity College of Music London (1989), majoring in classical piano and cello and has been teaching music for more than 12 years. She has also been writing Gospel songs for the last 10 years.

In 1999-2000, she went to Hillsong, Australia and Sydney Conservatory to further her music education. During these years, she participated in the live recording of two Hillsong albums. This was a major turn around to her style of music resulting in the release of her contemporary album SAND. Lucy has a great passion for the youth and desires to train a whole young generation to excel in creative ministry, especially in the realm of songwriting and worship.

Last year, she was asked by a publisher to transcribe her songs into a piano book. Together with Christopher Norton (of Kingsway Music, UK) and  Raymond Tan, "Because of Love" was produced and released in July 2006.

This piano book features 10 original pieces composed in contemporary genres of pop, rock and ballad. It comes with an accompaniment CD and teaching notes. Two other books are on the way to the publishers and will be out in August this year.

However, the biggest development for Lucy this year is to have her song "Come Holy Spirit" recorded by Kingsway Music UK, under the "Here I Am to Worship" series. This is a major breakthrough for Malaysian Christian Music, and MCSN would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Lucy and pray the Lord will continue to use her and her music for His glory. Amidst all this, God has also been opening doors for Lucy to conduct workshops and seminars across the country, teaching both piano teachers and music students. She has also had the opportunity to perform at the ISME (International Society of Music Education) in KL.

Patrick Leong

Patrick has been involved in the music industry since 1997, performing as a backing vocalist for major artistes such as Taiwan Artist Wang Lee Hom, Sheila Majid, Siti Nurhaliza, Innuendo and many other local artists. A significant breakthrough in his singing career occurred in 2002 when Patrick opened Pavarotti's Concert for the Asian Global Leadership Forum which was held on the 7th of September that year in Pangkor Laut. Soon after Patrick was led to form a Ministry that reaches out through music and testimonies. June 2003 saw the formation of Oops! Asia as well as the release of his debut album "For Your Love" which contains a tapestry of his life experiences & faith.

Lim Chee Peng

 

Lim Chee Peng is a member of the Trinity Baptist Church, Alor Star. He leads worship, plays the piano as well as write worship songs for his church. His Pastor, Clarine Chun is the founder of Fungates, a ministry that has impacted children internationally.

Chee Peng first felt the Lord calling him into the music ministry at 15, when he heard a song entitled "More to this Life" by Steven Curtis Chapman, a man whose music has inspired him for the past 18 years. (Don Moen and Bob Fitts are others from whom he draws inspiration.)

At age 17 he wrote his first song "As I Worship You O Lord", a song that has brought forth renewal and breakthrough for many. Many of his songs were birthed during altar calls.

Fungates released its first album, "COOL" in 2003. Chee Peng wrote most of the songs for that album and sang all the lead vocals. Two years later, they released their second album, "IN", in which Chee Peng co-wrote all the songs with Pastor Clarine.
 

A word from Chee Peng:
"I am very inclined to write songs in a story form. As I travel to different places, the different faces tell a different story. I want to capture them all and tell of how we can overcome the struggles we go through; the victories we've won in life. Not forgetting in all these things, God must be there in our lives, That is what I am going through right now."

Initial work on the 3rd album has begun, although it is at a very early stage. We pray that the Lord will be him, and be his inspiration, as he continues to writes the songs.

KB Chan

Pastor KB CHAN is a worship leader, a songwriter and Christian recording artiste with a Psalmist anointing. He has so far released six Christian albums being, ‘ Revival is in this Land' , which has 6,000 copies sold in 1989, ‘In a Sacrifice of Praise' in 1991, ‘Look on our Fields' done in the USA in 1992, ‘ The New Season' in 1994, ‘ A Song in the Night' in 2002 and now the latest worship album called ‘ Intimacy – a worship experience' 2005. All the albums have been well received locally and abroad. So far KB has written more than 60 songs.

Saved and baptized in the Holy Spirit in August 1987, he spent the earlier part of his ministry reaching out to the small churches in the East Cost of Malaysia and moved among some AOG churches in Kuala Lumpur back in 1989-1991 while still working in the bank. He was called into full time ministry in July 1992 after working in a bank for 23 years.

While preparing to serve the Lord in a big way in 1994, the doctors told him that his kidneys had failed and he needed to go for dialysis three times a week. He has been a dialysis patient for more than 10 years now. In spite of his physical condition, he still carries his keyboard and ministers to smaller churches locally. He was a worship Pastor for two years in a local church.

Ordained and recognized as a minister in 1996, he started a ministry of worship and intercession called ‘Sweet Incense'. Many lives have been touched and transformed by his music as he ushers them into the throne room of God. His life and testimony have been a good testimony of God's grace and provision in times of needs. He has been acknowledge as a ‘walking miracle' and spends his time witnessing to new dialysis patients and has brought many to the Lord these 10 years.

In July 2003, his kidneys were removed because doctors said it was life threatening. It was a miraculous operation and doctors took five and a half hours to perform the operation. In spite of the fact that he has no kidneys and has to do dialysis three times a week, the Lord strengthens and restores his ministry to the nation. He is now traveling across the nation to minister in churches and camps and has brought much comfort to the hurting and the broken-hearted. Pastor KB CHAN is married with two daughters. One is married to an Australian and they are both Pastors and his younger daughter is a graduate.

His songs have been well-received and been a blessing to listeners all around the world. Kelvin Lim

At the age of 13, during a church camp, Kelvin or Kel, as we call him, heard an audible voice saying, “You will be playing for Me”. Knowing that it was a call from God, he went on to take up organ lessons. As he learned, he began writing down songs impressed upon him.

Growing up, he was involved in local church worship ministries, which led him to co-found Joshua Race Ministry (JRM). Kelvin helmed it as their main keyboardist. The band pioneered the local Christian band worship scene and produced a total of 3 albums, i.e. “Unity” (1992), “Heavenbound” (1996) and “Experiment” (1999), which was recorded under the international record label, Sony. This led them to be nominated in the local Grammy's equivalent, the AIM awards in 2000. Due to different commitments, the band members went their separate ways in 2001.

Kel is the co-founder of 1a.m, a businessman and loves serving God as a worship minister, composer, producer and music arranger. His mission in life is to inspire music and worship; build a business empire and raise visionaries to advance the kingdom of God.

Ng Wah Lok

Mention Malaysian Christian music, and the very first person who comes to mind is Pastor Wah Lok. He is at the very heart of all that's happening in the Christian music scene in this country, and also the person who is behind the success of this website. From the beginning, when this project was only a seed in my heart, God has used Pastor Wah Lok to encourage, support and guide this project till its completion. It is our honor to have him as the first featured songwriter of this website.
